Non – Emergency Ambulance Services

Non-Emergency Ambulance Services, otherwise known as Medical Stretcher Services, transport non-emergency patients moving to, from, and between  health care facilities for medically necessary reasons that are not a direct result of a sudden or unexpected deterioration in the patient’s condition. Non emergency transports do not manage life, limb,or function threatening conditions. Transports include hospital discharges for patients who are unable to use conventional means of transportation, or those requiring specialized equipment or treatment.

Private insurance plans have varying rules and requirements regarding coverage for  non-emergency ambulance service. Virtually every insurance company, however, will require that non-emergency ambulance services be medically necessary. Private insurance does not cover transportation for the convenience of the patient or transports to preferred facilities or physicians.  Insurance plans generally require prior approval or a doctor’s signature for transport.  Specific origin and destination restrictions may apply. Be advised, select private insurance companies do not provide non-emergency medical transportation coverage.

When calling for non-emergency ambulance service, please be prepared to provide the call intake specialist with basic patient information as well as information concerning and the type of service being requested. Requests for ambulance transports that require advanced life support (ACLS) will require additional information be given to the call intake specialist regarding the patient’s condition and treatment required.  National Ambulance is committed to providing hassle-free, efficient, punctual service for all non-emergency ambulance requests.

Small events generally have one or two Field Providers assigned.
